Our case is themed on public diplomacy. Hello?
Hi, you seem quite captivated. Is it the children's voice or the colours of Li Bekei? Actually, the designer's respect to Li Bekei and the lyrics, the brew of Bodo and the tea of Wu Zishan, are almost mutually appreciated. Both strike me as they revolve around themes of friendly exchanges and appreciation of beauty. By the way, I'm Yixin from China Daily. Welcome to the Expo. I'm Zhang Zhong, Culture Ambassador of Hainan Intent for Cultural Heritage.
Both events are related to our ICH. Ah, that's exactly what I'm aiming for today. Some going global stories about Hainan ICH. Will you be my guest? My pleasure. Thank you. Ethan, you know, we're applying for the world natural and cultural heritage. The song you just heard, Sing Wu Zhi Shan to France, by the Children's Choirs, is inspired by the French song, If I Had the Opportunity to Go to China.
This music event has captivated the world, receiving more than 1,000 media reports and over 200 million hits. The UNESCO, CGTN, Ministry of Foreign Affairs all held this remarkable culture exchange. Wow, that's really a game changer, isn't it? Did it encounter any difficulties? We did, like language barrier, but this is certain amount after amounts of practice.
What's more important is the common ground of cultures. They have Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame. We have the Forbidden City and Wu Zhi Shan. They chant China and Himalaya. We echo Bonjour Paris, Bonjour France. It's through culture exchange that we celebrate our beauties and join hands to build our friendship. Brilliant. Empathy and collaboration are always the best bridges in sending language barriers. Yes, culture exchanges do promote mutual understanding among people around the world.
This is Cao Ting. I know this is Chinese from France. founder of Liberté brand Li Jing. And this is Ethan from China Daily. He's here to interview. Bonjour, Ethan. Bonjour, Miss Cao. Can you speak English? Yes. Great. You look graceful in this Li Jing. Thank you. It's a hybrid. And please be seated. Thank you. I know China Liberté is held as a living fossil of textile spanning over 3,000 years.
Its splendid history is an important export product along the ancient Maritime Silk Road still shines today. Now, Li Bekei's status on the list of ICH has been upgraded from endangered to representative by the UNESCO, the first ever successful protection case of such worldwide. Despite good momentum, do you have any challenges when introducing Li Bekei to the world?
Yes. I like it doesn't mean others like it, the sort of misconception thing. For example Li people honor Da Li Shen the god of strength which represents ancestral protection and ethnic unity in Li culture And these motifs as well they are crafted beautifully and have auspicious meanings yet despite their innate luxury gene as commented by French designer Veronica Le Roy many foreign friends perceive them merely as cheap Oh what a pity! So how have you tackled these challenges? First, do more international exchanges for example my friend Russian painter Sasha told me that she discovered the incredible similarity between two cultures.
Very impressive! Yes, also immersive experience is another solution. Right, take myself as an example. By putting on the primitive bar clothes and working together with a Pakistan friend to make fire by drilling wood, I had a profound understanding of local culture and emotional resonance, which gave me inspiration to my design. Besides, we also invited designers to leave villages for immersive experience. This helped change their perception, leading to the success of series shows in Paris.
Paris. Leroy was also enchanted by the stunningly modern and graphic pattern, and even predicted that the Lebron Cay could be the Almas of China of Hainan. So merely going out is not enough, coming in is another key. By writing more foreigners into our cultural world to explore, it's more likely to turn what I like into what we like. That's the spirit. Just as the French children come in to explore and experience the culture, and share happiness with Hainan children.
Excellent. And what else have you done? Integration. And innovation. Cultural innovation and inheritance is not merely a slogan, but a must in practice. Liberté can be dated back thousands of years ago, and the techniques were spread to the mainland by Huang Daopu. As Liberté has innate luxury gene, it is good enough to give artists inspiration. Le Roy reshaped them in her stunning design.
Sasha reconstructed them in her sofa painting and Nikki recreated them in her spin-offs. Look, this is how Leroy integrated modernity with tradition in her design. Like this gangong bird and the lovely dog signs, they've been enlarged, reshaped and integrated with modern elements. Inspiring! And what other challenges have you met in your cultural exchanges? Head-on challenges how to come up with a sustainable mechanism. To tackle this, we adopted a GLONACO synergy framework.
Could you please explain how this operates specifically? Sure. GLONACO is a blend word of global, national, and local. Let me illustrate with Libra K. Locally, we established the workshops, collaborated with Institute of American Intellect to integrate modern design and digitize with Leber K patterns. Nationally, the government has rolled out supporting policies. Globally, we've obtained UNESCO's recognition, registered Leading Brand with European Union, and showcased our works at big events, such as Bluol Forum for Asia and Fashion Weeks in London, New York, Paris, etc.
I see. So this Glonaco Synergy Framework also applies to the children's chorus. That's right. Today's conversation has made me deeply feel that Chinese culture going global is not just an art, but also a science. Let wish China a smooth journey on the maritime Silk Road in the new era Thank you both for sharing your profound insights Thank you Thank you Thank you Appreciate it The case analysis identifies challenges and their solutions in the culture going global.
Challenge one, linguistic and ethnic differences. Three key theories are employed. First, cultural discount theory. This means a cultural product becomes less valuable or appealing when it is introduced to a foreign culture. To address this, apathetic narrative and co-constructive narrative are used to help dilute the differences through initiatives like the Children's Music Bridge, which strengthens the value of mutual friendship. Second, symbolic interactionism, which means cultural symbols, if recognized, can be used to negotiate and reconstruct meanings.
In our case, the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, as against the Forbidden City and the Hanna's tropical landscapes, are used for meaning negotiation. Shared qualities like the similar frequency of French red wine and Hainan's black tea are used to highlight harmony and diversity. Third, cultural adaptation and hybridization are used to reconstruct libra key patterns such as the gangong bird and dog to enable aesthetic transition. Challenge 2. Misconception and stereotype solutions include cultural exchanges and immersive experiences, experiences, combining going out with coming in to enhance mutual understanding and trust, such as the mutual visits of the sign of French children's choruses and the initiative welcoming foreign friends to explore the vacay.
Challenge 3 concerns the sustainable mechanism. The GLONACCOS synergy framework addresses this by synergizing local routes, national policies and global platforms to ensure sustainable cultural outreach. In conclusion, these initiatives achieve three transformations, from I like it, to we like it, from telling our own stories to co-creating stories, and from one directional cultural outreach to mutual value sharing. By reviving the maritime Silk Road spirit, they foster intercultural dialogue, enhance high international influence, and contribute to the global civilizations initiative. Thank you.
Thank you.
