Ladies and gentlemen, in March 2025, a national team in the drama and opera industry featuring eight distinctive Chinese operas debuted in a four-minute video adapted from the film Nuo Jia Cu, captivating over 500,000 viewers online. and at the heart of this project stands an actress, Qiu Danli, a young inheritor of the time-honored Yue Opera in China.

We're quite familiar now with the trend of cultural revitalization and renewed stage plays. However, the trend is supported by myriad of youthful actors and actresses with an innovative mindset, among whom Qiu Danli stood out at most prominence. And a decade ago, Qiu was constantly vexed by a staggering problem.

That is, as the Chinese youths were constantly migrating away from their own birthplaces, it was really hard to build their connection and affection towards their local culture and stage play. And back then, who could have thought of blending video games, a burgeoning field in the 21st century, with traditional Chinese stage play? Qiu Danli successfully did that. In January 2022, Qiu released a video of herself singing a musical verse of Yue opera to narrate a plot from the famous game Genshin Impact.

This video quickly aroused and brought over 4,000 fans pouring into her comments to express their enthusiasm. And it suddenly dawned on her how she could reach the audience by incorporating the dose of beauty of traditional Chinese drama into the hearts of the fans and into the characters their fans adore. And ever since then, she's been calling forth the entire Chinese opera industry to stand out, to unite together to produce and reproduce lots of other Chinese drama themed collaboratively with Nezha and Harry Potter.

and after her success Qiu Danli moved slightly towards the pedagogical and administrative field she started an academy in the Shanghai Yue Opera House where I visited this summer and this summer I encountered with a lot of other friends from China who holds a deep affection and interest for Chinese stage play and we learned more about Qiu Danli For us, she is more than a role model in the industry, but also a leader that introduces to us and the whole world the dulcet beauty of creative Chinese culture and leads the creative Chinese drama to the entire world.
