China is shouldering up its responsibility as a nation with great infrastructure and technology development. With the process of the Belt and Road Initiative, China has announced its commitment to establish many Luban workshops around the world. With great pride, we are witnessing a growing number of countries joining this great transformative cross-cultural journey. Luban Workshop, which was named after the famous craftsman Luban of China, has received warm welcome in African countries.
So, George Seling, could you tell us more about the background information of this workshop and what role has China played in this program? Sure, the emergence of the workshop is a typical manifestation of how China's infrastructure power influenced your booty under the transnational flow of industrial globalization. Under the progress of the built-in rail initiative, China has helped the locals establish the Lubang Workshop with a brilliant geographical location. The construction of this Lubang Workshop has served as a very infrastructure For example the rail road highlights how China infrastructure power goes through the geographical boundaries and national boundaries to influence other culture So although Chinese government support also plays a determining role in shaping the Lu Bang workshop that showcased China's emphasis on global affairs and shouldering up national responsibility when boosting collaboration for shared prosperity,
from the perspective of cross-cultural theory, it also reflects long-term orientation. The project is future-oriented, focusing on wider and broader prospects, extending from the Luban Workshop's vocational function to radiating other aspects such as economy and industries. Dr. Charles, the head of the Luban Workshop in Portugal, has highly praised the project and the essential figure of Luban. So, Harold, could you please tell us what can we learn from these remarks?
Well, Dr. Charles' remarks can be categorized in three dimensions. First, it reflects China's cultural identity of craftsmanship and artisan spirits. Dr. Charles in a video draws an analogy between Lu Ban and Leonardo da Vinci, who shares a devoted and prudent ethics and also spirits, as they're both characterized of their inspirations to the entire world.
So by drawing an analogy between Lu Ban and da Vinci, it is also a manifestation of China's cultural soft power. And last but not least, it demonstrates collectivism of Chinese nation. For the cooperation between institutions and projects builds foundations for cultivating teachers and leaders in diverse areas in different countries. So it reflects China's mindset of collectivism among different cultural landscapes.
We can see that some students who have participated in this workshop were interviewed afterwards. So, Drisling, could you please tell us what has the workshop offered them and what's the difference between the workshop and traditional training? So first, from the individual perspective, the project aimed to help local young people enhance their technical skills. Different from the traditional training's focus on theory, the Lu Bang workshop highlights practical experience, which is vital importance to provide students with future development and offer great opportunity for their careers. From a social perspective, It boosts the overall development of Ethiopia.
According to graduates of the workshop, they have learned professional expertise which significantly contribute to the industrial development of their own country. Additionally, the Lubang workshop emphasis on teamwork demonstrates China's cultural value of collectivism. The local students were deeply impressed and influenced by this way of training, actively adapting to China's collective way of cooperation. In this case, it's also a reflector on low uncertainty avoidance, actively absorbing China's mythologies.
The workshop is a successful example of cultural adaptation and China's positive influence of cultural values on foreign countries. At the end of the video, from the experience of Alexander, a student studying at the Lubang workshop, we can see that the workshop has extended its support outward towards different areas. So, Harold, could you please tell us, what are the cultural implications behind this phenomenon? The cultural implications behind this phenomenon can be categorized in four dimensions.
First is the globalization. Alexander mentioned that the Luban Workshop provides them with a myriad of opportunities. And after graduating from Luban Workshop, they can choose to exchange to Switzerland and Spain, which reflects the globalization and fluidity of intercultural exchanges. Secondly, it reflects the policy support of both China and the corresponding countries holding the Luban Institution.
Based on the Built-in Road Initiative, as seen in the video, there are slogans of policy communication, which is a further implication of China's commitment and endeavor to establish enduring relationships and partnerships with the countries. And thirdly, it reflects the cultural adaptivity of Lu Ban's artisan spirits and also the spirits of the Lu Ban institution. According to Dr Charles a lot of Lu Ban institutions are adapted to fit in with different local landscapes and as is mentioned by one of the interviewees the Luban institution is also suitable for Egypt which also reflects its cultural adaptivity.
Last but not least, the projects solidify the friendship between the countries and the people. Thanks for these insightful analyses. Now let's review this case to make intercultural communication more effective and appropriate. So first, effectively speaking, we're so proud to see that China's infrastructure power and its technological advancement have gained great support from the global, from the international society.
And we're also happy to see that so many of our cultural values is literally applied in the process of our interactions with other nations. For example, we have mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, and we are trying our best to build a shared future for mankind, which is a coordinate with our future orientation. And second, cognitively speaking, we should apply more of our cultural values to the outer side world.
For example, we have famous idioms like, it's better to teach a man how to fish than to give him a fish instead. By establishing so many workshops around the world, We're literally teaching foreigners how to build their own technology and how to build their own infrastructure. And also we have another idiom which says, in prosperity, one should reach out to help others. So China, as such a responsible actor now in the global environment, is literally giving out their power to help other nations to make their life easier.
So, last but not least, behaviorally speaking, for the governments, they should facilitate more of the basic infrastructure programs and also to establish more positive policies so as to help the other nations to better have their own infrastructure program. And for the national government organizations, they should advocate more intercultural collaboration and also to call upon all of us to work as unity instead of a solely island in the global nation.
And as individuals, we should engage ourselves more often in personal and professional intercultural communication, so as to prepare ourselves better for globalization and our future. And during the process, we can not only practice our knowledge, but also intercultural communication skills. And last but not least, the successful intercultural interaction requires each and every one of us to take a step forward.
With different stakeholders shouldering up their responsibilities and encouraging collaboration, we are sure to build a society with a shared future for mankind, with more inclusiveness and mutual understanding. Thank you.
