And now let's proceed to scenario analysis. Group number 12, you may start.
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to China Intercultural Communication Television. This is your host, Eldridge, and thanks for tuning in. Recently, a video showing Meituan's commercial success at home and abroad has gone viral on the Internet, attracting the world's attention to the innovative strategies of the Chinese internet company. How should we interpret this phenomenon?
Today, we are privileged to be joined by two of the leading experts in this field. They are Ms. Yang, a big data expert focusing on delivery industry, and Ms. Duan, a scholar researching intercultural communication theories. Ms. Yang, would you like to start? Meituan has went through severe competition to dominate Chinese mainland market. How did it manage to do that? Unlike other group buy services, Meituan did three things to stand out among the fierce competition.
First, it focused on smaller markets that wasn't as competitive. Second it established a good relationship with local shops and services and focused on specific targets Thirdly it emphasized on good quality of food and services rather than efficiency Meituan didn't follow other enterprises or corporations blindly, but used its own creativity to pull through the competition.
Thanks for sharing. And Ms. Duan, what lesson can we draw from its success? Yes, so in the face of thousands of similar competitors, how does Meituan start to expand its competitive advantage? The key lies in focusing on the specific conditions of the Chinese markets instead of blindly copying the successful models of other Western companies. It started from smaller cities because in China, the majority of the population are centered in rural areas and there is less competition in it, leaving more space for Meituan to testify its model, to find out what mistakes it has, and to make adjustments before moving to bigger markets.
It is also a very valuable lesson for all other businesses. We should learn from others, but we shouldn't rely on their experiences. Instead, we should make our own innovative and original ideas based on the specific and special conditions in order to walk out a path with Chinese characteristics. That's really impressive. Now, second question, Ms. Yang, how did Meituan went global? Well, Meituan started spreading globally in Hong Kong, which is a bridge between China and the world.
The next stop is Saudi Arabia because Saudi Arabia was not as developed as Europe or the U.S. And finally, its destination is in Brazil. It wasn't easy for Meituan to pull through the competition, but it did it successfully, beating all its competitors such as Uber, a U.S.-dominated tech company. Now, Ms. Duan, how would you interpret such situation through an intercultural communicational perspective?
Okay, let's look at Meituan step by step. First, it chose Hong Kong. Why? Because Hong Kong is a place that connects China to the world. It has double cultural identities. It is situated in China, but it also has international market settings. So it is a very effective bridge to connect local to global for Meituan. And then it visioned the rest of the world, and it chose Saudi Arabia. It is an international market, but it is not yet dominated by Western business.
So it is a very good place for us to testify its mistakes before going global organically. And this in business is called globalization, which is the combination of globalization and localization. Firstly, we should not, like Meituan didn't just focus on inner markets of China. Instead, it focused on the global and international market and go global organically. But it doesn't just impose the same model on different countries.
However, it has went through a long process of localization, learning about the specific conditions of different markets, and making adaptations and integrations. And this is the reason for its success. Thank you. And now, as we know, in the background of commercial competition between China and the U.S., Meituan managed to kick into the overseas market dominated by American monopolies. How was that possible?
There are two takeaways for the competition between China and the U.S. The first is that Meituan generated some exclusive membership services I'm sure you have all enjoyed before, like lowering the food fees and providing more convenient access to hotel reservations. And the second is that Meituan now used AI algorithms that precisely matched the drivers with its deliverers.
These operational knowledge are keys to how Meituan outperforms US. Thank you. Ms. Stuan, how would you interpret this phenomenon? Okay, so firstly, the most important thing about Meituan, it tells us that technology should serve people. Just look at all these customer services that are carried out. Discounts, long-term memberships, and delivery drivers that can arrive in the face of rain and snow.
So technology is not something very far away from us And its final objective is that it should concretely make us feel the improvement of the quality of life of the people And this is the idea of China which says center around the population and the objective of technology. And second, the success of these Chinese businesses is not only on the economic and the business level. It has established positive brand image on the international stage and has established a competitive advantage.
But more importantly, it has also expanded the soft power and the global influence of the Chinese culture and China on the international stage, opened up more horizons for us to establish more collaborative relationships with different markets and different countries. Both our guests have stated very strong points. And now my audience, it's time for solution. Okay, thank you. So here we can draw three major solutions.
Firstly, we should stand on the shoulders of giants. We should learn from their successful experiences, but we should walk on our own, walk out our own path, walk out our own innovative and original ideas, and walk out a path of Chinese characteristics. And secondly, we should have a broad view towards the international market. We should not be conservative and only focus on China. Instead, Chinese companies should go global organically in the face of the market which was originally dominated by Western countries, but also we should focus on the specific details of different markets.
It is not a one-side persuasion of imposing the same products on different markets, but we should have an in-depth understanding and a comprehensive learning of different markets and to make adjustments to our products in order to realize localization. And thirdly, the success of Chinese business is not only, not only has a significance on the business level, but also on the soft power and global influence of the Chinese culture.
It showcases people that China is capable of carrying out successful Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions that can solve problems from all over the world. It is continuously pacing towards the center of the international stage, and this is the horizon and the future of openness, inclusiveness, and diversity that we all wanna see, and what makes China vibrant, relevant, and alive for generations to come. Well, these solutions are indeed both practical and effective.
So this shall be the end. And I believe the solutions will absolutely benefit our audience in intercultural communications in the long run. And this shall be the end of tonight's program. Thank you again, my dear guests. And thank you, my lovely, lovely audience. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
