Music is the universal language of mankind. You may start when you're ready. This quote gave us a profound inspiration in intercultural communication. It means that although countries worldwide differ in educational backgrounds or cultural identities, but some fundamental commonalities we all both share, that is, we are all human beings, and we all admire the beauty of the music and thus to understand diverse cultures.

Therefore, this quote emphasises the importance of the music in shaping our mutual learning and respect. And this quote can be interpreted through the intercultural communication competence series and especially the affective level. The affective level refers to that with the music we can admire the beauty of our common similarities, which is we are all humankind and we all need to cultivate an intercultural communication competence to better for mutual learning and respect.

Therefore, I want to elaborate my own experience to further showcase my understanding. This summer vacation, I took part in an internship in the United Nations in Switzerland, and when I interacted with the officers in the refugee agency, one thing that stuck with me, although they come from different countries, but they all share some commonalities, which is they all share some, admire the beauty and ethics of the music, and just because of this, they share some common solutions for the world refugee issues, so that it can be solved properly and optically. Therefore, back to this quote, what I want to say is that only admiring the music is not sufficient. We also need to cultivate an intercultural communication competence to better admire the similarities between humankind. Therefore, in this era of globalization, under no circumstances shall we not only admire the music,

but also seek to understand, respect, and engage in intercultural communication. Thank you.
